On September 5th, the 19th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize Ceremony was held in Beijing. The 2×660 MW unit project of Jiangsu Suqian Electricity Power Co., LTD. under CHN Energy was singularly honored as the sole recipient in the electric power engineering category.

Since its establishment in 1999, Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize has been the most influential and authoritative innovation prize in the field of civil engineering in China. The second phase unit of the Suqian Co., Ltd. is the first thermal power plant project winning this award since its inception.
The project tackled challenges related to the efficient and flexible use of double-reheat units. It pioneered several innovations for units at their level: temperature control with flue gas recirculation, an integrated valve system combining main steam, regulating door, and reheating steam – dubbed the “three-valve integration”, an efficient “steam-electric dual drive” heating system, an intelligent power generation for operation control system and public service system, and so on. These core technological breakthroughs filled gaps within the industry. The project employed 17 energy-saving technologies promoted as national priorities, 21 sub-categories within 8 major categories from “Top Ten” new technologies in the construction industry, and 55 “Five New Technologies” in power construction. Once upon the units were commissioned, their operation was stable and safe with all performance metrics meeting their design values. The energy consumption, power generation efficiency, and environmental indicators of these units set world records at their level.
