announced that the Dadu River Monkey Rock Hydropower Station Dam of CHN Energy was awarded the “International Milestone Project Award for Rockfill Dams”at the Fifth International Symposium on Rockfill Dams held in Iguassu City, Brazil.

Monkey Rock Hydropower Station with an installed capacity of 1.7 million kilowatts, located in the middle reaches of the Dadu River in Kangding City, Ganzi Prefecture, the dam is a panel rockfill dam, is the world’s second-highest concrete panel rockfill dam, the maximum height of the dam is 223.5 meters, the crest elevation of the dam is 1,848.5 meters, the total length of the roof is 278.35 meters, the width of the roof is 13.2 meters, the total dam filling volume of 10 million cubic meters, the dam base cover layer has a maximum thickness of 80 meters, the seismic defense The seismic intensity is 8 degrees. Since its commissioning in 2017, after nearly seven years of stable operation practice has proved that the design, construction and management of Monkey Rock Dam has been successful, making positive contributions to China’s mastery of the leading technology of ultra-high and ultra-narrow panel dam construction, and to the creation of a demonstration benchmark for panel rockfill dam construction.
